Weekend off the Wagon in your inbox, every Friday It’s our birthday! So, you know, we’ll probably take it easy this weekend. Being two and all, lots of naps and crying. Ok the last part is probably true. Join us tonight at Denver Beer Co for the release of Dubbel Entendre. Tomorrow, we’re crawling through [...]
Over the past two years, we’ve done a lot of drinking. A lot of thinking and a lot of drinking. Through beer, wine, and spirits, we have sipped, sloshed, slurped, sopped, swallowed, swigged and swilled our way around this fine town. In honor of turning two, we are throwing a three-day party. Because, math. And [...]
Today the Wagon Staff is running around as if they were chicken-sans-heads putting the final touches on the Denver Beer Festivus. If you didn’t get tickets to the actual party, you can still come to the after-party featuring beer from Great Divide and music from Greensky Bluegrass. Tickets and info here. Still not venturing out? We [...]
You haven’t seen Olympics until you’ve seen the Brewer’s Olympics. Track and field? What is that? Screw synchronized swimming, and screw Michael Phelps…no really, I would like to screw Michael Phelps. Where was I? Oh yeah, Brewer’s Olympics! For the second year in a row, Vine Street Pub hosted a veritable shit-show of a field [...]
What’s the highpoint of a brewer’s career? Winning a medal at Great American Beer Festival? Maybe. But what about winning a medal at Great American Beer festival and receiving a free congratulatory beer? Thanks to Breckenridge Brewery, the Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG), and CBG member breweries, the best of the best at this year’s GABF [...]

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a clichéd phrase to introduce any article pertaining to superheroes! No, it’s Fantastic Pour—the shamelessly geeked-out collaboration between Breckenridge Brewery and the folks sponsoring the inaugural Denver Comic Con. What kind of hero is Fantastic Pour? At 4.5% ABV, this American-style wheat beer isn’t exactly the Incredible Hulk. [...]
Burning Can! Just like Burning Man except without all of the wierdos. Well… um… That might not be the right way to put that at all. I mean, the event is in Lyons, there will definitely be weirdos. Anyway, this Saturday, June 9, Oskar Blues is having a festival for those of us that love [...]

By Alex Weissner One of my favorite college pastimes was bar golf. So a few weeks ago, I got the idea to put together a bar golf tournament for my client iX Mixer. For those who don’t know what bar golf is, this is how you explain it to a five-year-old. Bar golf: Where a [...]

Trick-or-treaters must have been disappointed when they came to my locked door and empty, dark house, but Halloween has always been my favorite holiday. The candy! The costumes! The scares! What’s not to love? Now I’ve grown older and it’d be too creepy to have a costumed man in his mid-20’s bang on a suburbanite’s [...]
The kids on Halloween think the candy is dandy and their parents—stressed-out from wrangling miniature Optimus Primes, Spider-Men, and Disney princesses on a sugar high—insist that liquor is quicker. What is there for the craft beer lover on this holiday? The Ale House at Amato’s has heard about the neglect of this demographic and seeks [...]
On Saturday, Vine Street Pub & Brewery hosted the Uptown Neighborhood Block Party featuring a Brewers’ Olympics, live bluegrass, grub, and plenty of beer. Ten teams competed in the first annual Brewers’ Olympics: Avery, Oskar Blues, Boulder Beer, Breckenridge, Wynkoop, Mountain Sun, Twisted Pine, Odell, Great Divide, and an amateur team – Mountain Brew. Each [...]
Each Wednesday in this column I post my insights about one of the thousands of beers brewed in the great state of Colorado. Feel free to shoot me an email with your suggestions of Colorado beers you’d like me to feature – Lee Williams at hoptopia@gmail.com – or leave your ideas in the comments. With [...]
Breckenridge Brewery received two new big bright shiny 300 barrel fermenters yesterday. A barrel is 31 gallons. That’s 9,300 gallons per tank. These tanks will allow Breck to increase production by 15,000 barrels a year, or 465,000 gallons, or 4,960,000 12 oz bottles of beer, bringing total annual capacity to approximately 55,000 barrels. That is, [...]

Breckenridge Brewery is having a good start to 2011. They celebrated their 21st birthday party, had a hilarious video campaign, released a new Ale House and a new Pilsner, joined forces with Wynkoop, hit the Top 50 Breweries list, and now they’re dominating their first half of 2011. Here’s the official press release on their [...]
On Saturday, Breckenridge Brewery celebrated their 21st anniversary at its Denver production brewery on Kalamath. Turning 21 is kind of a big deal, and no I’m not going to make a joke about them finally being able to drink their own beer (even though I just did). It’s a big deal because Breckenridge Brewery is [...]
