Beer School with Crooked Stave

In honor of American Craft Beer Week, the team at World of Beer downtown Denver is hosting their first Beer School with Crooked Stave! The class begins at 5:30 p.m. and representatives from Crooked Stave will be down there giving you a peak into how they do what they do! This event is RSVP only, so there could still be a chance to head down there today to see if there are any spots left!

Thirsty Firkin Thursday: Cuvée de Cobbler

Have you heard the amazing news yet? The folks at Crooked Stave are tapping their very first firkin INSIDE their taproom! And that’s only have of the good news. The fact that it’s a golden sour aged with peaches, vanilla bean, cinnamon and nutmeg is the rest of it. You better not miss out on this Cuvée de Cobbler! Tapping starts at 6 p.m.!

Haystack Cheese Pairing

Powder Keg Brewing Company, 101 2nd Ave, Niwot

From 6-10 p.m. in Niwot, come check out the illest brewery stationed northeast of Boulder for a beer and cheese pairing that will rock your world. Enjoy a select roundup of Powder Keg brews that will be paired with cheeses from Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy. Each ticket will get you five tasters and five slect cheeses. Relay for Life Benefit at Two Rascals

The awesome folks at Two Rascals Brewing Co. are donating a portion of the proceeds they receive this evening between the hours of 4-9 p.m.! The fundraiser is benefiting Relay for Life, an overnight community walk that raises money for the American Cancer Society.

Renegade Tap Takeover @ Denver Bicycle Cafe

Starting at 7 p.m., The Denver Bicycle Cafe will be tapping a bunch of Renegade Brewing beers! Firkin Friday – Sour Apricot Gose

Every Friday, Dry Dock Brewing South Dock taps a specialty firkin at 3 p.m. This week’s unique beer, created by The Brew Hut, is a sour apricot Gose and isn’t going to be around for long.

Vintage Beer Seminar & Tasting

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project, 3350 Brighton Blvd.

Along with the collaboration brews, Crooked Stave will also be holding a seminar with Vintage Beer author Patrick Dawson from 6-7:30 p.m. Patrick will discuss the main factors that make certain beers more conducive to aging and will provide tips on creating a proper beer cellar. A tasting component will also be included in the seminar with three vintage Crooked Stave beers. Copies of Vintage Beer will be available for purchase following the seminar. Sadly, this event is already sold out!

The Pint Room Grand Opening

2620 W. Bellview Ave., Littleton

Three years ago, the first Pint Room opened up in Dublin, Ohio offering 101 beers on tap. A second location opened up in Carmel, Indiana with 126 taps. Now, The Pint Room is opening up a location in Littleton, CO. Anyone want to guess how many taps it will have? An impressive 175 with 150 of them devoted to pouring Colorado local brews! The grand opening is this Friday, so come hungry and thirsty!

Beer Styles of the World Part 2 – Quintessential Pale Ales and IPAs

The style of pale ale debuted in the early 18th century and was typically a lightly hopped beer. When England started exporting it to India, the style became more strongly hopped to sustain the journey. Get to know the classics and origins of this super popular genre that now typifies many American brews. Join the crew at Factotum Brewhouse for a class on the history, multiple tastings and discourse of this well liked style, and yes, this class includes samples and palate cleansers! Can’t make this class? There’s another one just like it on Monday, too!

Second Anniversary Bash @ Odyssey Beerwerks

Join the crew at Odyssey Beerwerks from noon to 11 p.m. to help them celebrate their second anniversary! They’ll also be featuring their very first collaboration beer made with their friends from Strange Craft and Colorado Plus, the ColoRedO!

Brewery Boot Camp

Anyone who’s a beer lover and a fan of exercise loves a good cold one after a workout, right? Well, the folks at Factotum know this as well, and are holding an hour long boot camp ran by a certified personal trainer. Trainers will incorporate proper warm ups, cool downs and a little stretching to help ensure proper form. They will be working out with a diverse selection of beer related equipment to ensure a unique and healthy way to start your weekend! Crooked Stave Presents Acorn Doughnuts & Artisan Ales

To finish off ACBW, Crooked Stave will host a hangover brunch of sorts featuring two different artisan donuts from Acorn (also inside The Source) paired with two different tasters of beer. The pairing begins when the taproom opens at noon and runs until the donuts are gone. Cost for one donut paired with one beer is $6. Want to try both? It’s $12.

Vigil’s Reserve Bomber Release Party 

Grist Brewing Company, 9150 Commerce Center Cir. Suite 300, Highlands Ranch

Starting at noon, the team at Grist Brewing will be pouring Virgil’s Reserve for you and celebrating its existence. This 10.5 percent ABV brew started off as their 3rd Ring Belgian style ale and was naturally soured in wine barrels for several months to give it a balance of esters, fruit notes and natural acidity. Get in a bomber or on tap!

Chardonnay Vertical Tasting 

Settembre Cellars Winery & Tasting Room, 1501 Lee Hill #16, Boulder

Join Settembre Cellars for a first for the winery and tasting room as they pull the cork on Library Chardonnay! Taste Chardonnay from their very first vintage, 2007, through the current release, the 2010 Chardonnay. The 2007 vintage included two releases a steel fermented and barrel fermented Chardonnay. The tasting will be from 1-6 p.m.

Beer Brunch @ Lou’s

The fine people of Lou’s Food Bar are hosting the last of two Beer Brunches this Saturday and Sunday! This weekend features Great Divide Brewing Co. For only $30, you get three beers AND three courses! What’s not to love about that? This event is first come, first serve only!

Spring is upon us and so is festival season, plus American Craft Beer Week, so the party people at Upslope thought they’d do a lil’ celebrating by throwing their own music festival right here at their Flatiron Park brewery! Join them for The Upslope Get Down, a free music fest with beer and food from 1-11 p.m. They’re taking over the back parking lot of the brewery to bring you eight bands on two stages for continuous music all day long with Upslope brews and food by local food trucks. Who’s comin’ with them?!

Berliner Weisse Brewery Smackdown!

Two Penguins Tap & Grill 13065 East Briarwood Ave, Centennial

Two Penguins Tap & Grill and their friends at Elk Mountain Brewing challenged Dry Dock Brewing Company to the ultimate smackdown. Both breweries are brewing their own version of a Berliner Weisse, and you will determine who’s beer will reign supreme! Get two 4oz tasters (one of each brewery’s Berliner Weisse) for $6 – then vote for who you think did it best! After you pick your favorite, grab a 10oz for $6! Smackdown starts at 3 p.m., so be there or be square.

bRUNch at The BSide/Colfax After-Party

May 17th. This is going to be a really fun day. Not only is bRUNching at The BSide, (yup, chicken and waffles are on the menu) but it is the Colfax Marathon and Half Marathon. This event is two part, but we are all going to end together with full bellies! If you are running the Colfax, join them once you have crossed the finish line and celebrate your finish! Don’t feel like running long? No worries! Your regularly scheduled bRUNch will be taking place as well.
