Fresh Taps: July 16th – July 22nd (2014)

Welcome to Fresh Taps! Each week Shea collects the most promising lineup of new and returning beers available by the glass and the occasional bottle hitting taprooms and tasting rooms all over the state. No ticket required, just a taste for great beer and a little adventure.

Time flies when you’re having fun! This week marks a full year of Fresh Taps. But that’s not the only one year anniversary happening. Wiley Roots Brewing in Greeley is turning one too. And that’s only the beginning! There are some massive tap takeovers this week including the continuation of Cedar Creek Pub’s East Side Tap Takeover, Dogfish Head’s 60 Minute returns to CO, and so much more. Cheers to another year of fresh tappings! Stay tuned for even more improvements during the sophomore year.

Shea’s Spotlight Tappings

Each week I’ll pick a few tappings that catch my eye, and taste buds.

World of Beer Cherry Creek is putting on one of the largest tap takeovers I’ve ever seen. Nearly 50 beers will be on tap, with Sierra Nevada providing the bulk of the beers. Oskar Blues, Victory, and Firestone Walker will also have some brews representing. It’s all part of welcoming the Beer Camp Across America beer festival (organized by Sierra Nevada) that will be stopping here in Denver. What will be on tap? With nearly 50 beers, just about anything will be there, including five years of Sierra Nevada’s Bigfoot barleywine. See below for a full list. The takeover runs Friday through Sunday.

Upslope Barrel Aged Brown

Upslope Brewing’s Brown Ale is one of my favorite brown ales, and this Thursday they’re releasing a Leopold Brothers Maryland Rye Whiskey barrel aged version as part of their new Lee Hill Series. Grab a draught starting at 5 p.m. at the Lee Hill location in Boulder. Cans will also be available for purchase.

It may not be 50 beers, but Hops & Pie is throwing one heck of a tap takeover as well this week, with ten Firestone Walker beers being tapped on Saturday to celebrate the California brewery’s three years of being in Colorado. The fun starts at noon and will include many treats and a few staples too. See below for the full listing.
