Save water, drink whiskey: Water for People hosts ‘Whiskey Rebellion’

It often goes unnoticed how vital clean water is to creating the things we love to imbibe most. Our beer is roughly 95% water and our beloved whiskey is made up of about 60% water. But not all parts of the globe are fortunate enough to utilize water for luxuries like a fine brown liquor or full-bodied craft brew. Many do not have access to sanitary water for even the most basic of human needs.

Fortunately, Denver-based Water For People, is seeking to solve water problems in developing countries by providing communities with sanitation systems. Unlike other non-profits of its kind, however, Water for People goes beyond applying a temporary bandage by installing a quick-fix system that will inevitably break down. Instead, they provide education on proper maintenance and care, and monitor the system remotely for 10 years, ensuring a working sanitation system becomes a permanent fixture within the community.

Water for People’s mission is not an easy one, but they have made it easy for us to support their cause. On Thursday, July 10 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Curtis Hotel, Water for People kicks off its Craft of Water series with Whiskey Rebellion. Presented by Eat Boston (the folks behind Denver Bacon and Beer Festival), the event is focused on Bourbon and Rye whiskeys, featuring pours of… drum roll please…
