Shaken egg whites, orgeat and cream, and carbonation – these were some of the ingredient highlights of this past Angelshare session. . If you didn’t make it to this session, then you definitely missed out on some great cocktails. Angelshare is a 12-week program that matches up six distilleries with six bars/restaurants. The program is broken up into 6 two-week sessions.
This last session focused on Flips, Fizzes and Nogs, which brought us everything from egg white-based to carbonated drinks. And these weren’t just for the girls in the crowd: Some of these drinks like Coohill’s Brekn ‘n Eggs was powerfully strong, but tasty.

Favorites this round included the drinks from Star Bar, Jax and Curtis Club.
Star Bar’s Love Land Daqaloma – a mix-up with Dancing Pines rum and Zorani liqueur, Peychaud bitters, and grapefruit spritz salt – was a nicely blended, light, summery drink, reminding one that spring is right around the corner.
Jax Fish House’s Jax Fizz, made up of Downslope gin, basil, ginger, and citrus, tasted like a nice twist on the Ramos Gin Fizz, a classic New Orleans cocktail, which melds egg white, cream and gin.
The Curtis Club’s Sno Day took on the overtones of a gin-based Tiki drink (think not-too-sweet Piña Colada), but with a pleasant addition of basil.
The theme for the next session is Mardi Gras – get your beads ready! Expect a lot of brightly-colored cocktails, perhaps even a few twists on Hurricanes. You’ll have to go exploring to find out.
