Fresh Taps: Oct. 2nd-8th

Welcome to Fresh Taps. Each week Shea collects the most promising lineup of new and returning beers hitting taprooms and tasting rooms all over the state.

Denver Beer Fest 2013 This is that time of year your taste buds have been waiting for, and your liver has feared. It’s the lead-up to Denver Beer Fest and the Great American Beer Festival! The state is full of special releases from local breweries and tappings of numerous new and old out-of-staters…75+ to be more specific. I’ve done my best to find as many tappings this week as I can muster. So enough talk, let’s get down to business!

Shea’s Spotlight Tappings

Each week I’ll pick a few tappings that catch my eye, and taste buds. This week it’s tough to choose, but…

If you can, just camp out at Backcountry Pizza in Boulder from Sunday through Tuesday. From offering 30+ sour beers on Sunday to very rare collaborations on Tuesday, they’ll be ground zero for delicious beer. I highly recommend trying Boulevard’s 2012 Rye on Rye (rye beer aged in rye whiskey barrels) to be tapped on Monday, as it is one of the best rye beers I’ve had.

Mayor of Old Town

Or you could set up camp at The Mayor of Old Town in Fort Collins, where mini tap takeovers from several of Northern Colorado’s best breweries will occur through Sunday. See below for who is featured each day. They have like 100 beers on tap anyway, so it’s a pretty safe bet you and your crew will find something tasty.

Industrial Revolution Brewing And if you are traveling near Erie, swing into Industrial Revolution Brewing on Saturday. They will be celebrating their grand opening with five brews on tap, including an Orange Cream Ale and a Chamomile Wheat.

Honestly, I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the events this week. Here’s the rest of the stellar fresh tappings across Colorado for the next week. I will do my best to keep adding events as I find them, so check back for updates!

I love that you do these weekly posts. It would be easier to read if it were sorted by city instead of alphabetically, though.
