Fresh Taps: Sept. 11th-17th

Welcome to Fresh Taps. Each week Shea collects the most promising lineup of new and returning beers hitting taprooms and tasting rooms all over the state.

New Belgium The weather has finally turned towards fall, and the beer tappings are following suit. Oktoberfests are starting to surface, fresh hop brews are in the air, and more pumpkin ales are on the way. Not ready for fall? Perhaps a New Belgium Lips of Faith Tap Takeover will suit your fancy, or some late summer saisons.

Shea’s Spotlight Tappings

Each week I’ll pick 2 or 3 tappings that catch my eye, and taste buds.
Saint Arnold's Divine Reserve This upcoming week marks the arrival of Saint Arnold’s Brewing from the Lone Star State, and I recommend stopping into Falling Rock this Monday to say “Hi!”. Although I’m a fan of their standard offerings like the Elissa IPA, it’s the Divine Reserves that I’ll be after. The No. 12 Old Ale is regarded as one of their best brews, while the No. 13 Quad is sure to please. Still not convinced? How about a bourbon barrel aged weizenbock brewed with coocoa nibs? That’s a lot of goodness in one beer description!

Copper Kettle Tha Hoppa - Sept. 14th, 2013 If you’re a fan of hops, I suggest making Copper Kettle Brewing your second home this week for some fresh hop brews. Between a Cascade Fresh Hop today and their crisp and lovely Tha Hoppa fresh hop ale made with local hops from Voss Farms being released this Saturday, your itch for the fresh hops ought to be well scratched. Actually, just stick around all month, as Copper Kettle is celebrating Fresh Hop Cask Month during September.
