Tour de Fat, a Grande Fiesta

As Labor day fades from our memory, the Rockies languish without a prayer, and the Broncos kick things off in a few short hours, Fall is directly in front of us.  It is time for one last Grande Fiesta of Summer – Tour de Fat.

There is one more chance to celebrate a lot of things that make summer in Denver fantastic: beer, bikes, sunshine, live music, costumes, beer, general frivolity and silliness, and beer.  Just one more shot, this Saturday.

Best of all, and beer has been mentioned thrice, the real goal of Tour de Fat is to raise funds for bike awareness and programs in every city on the the tour.  There is a $5 dollar suggested donation to engage in all the festivities, and New Belgium will donate all the proceeds from beverage and merchandise sales to two bike campaigns: Bike Denver and The Denver Cruisers.  To date, Denver will be the 9th stop for this year’s nationwide tour, and over $169,000 has been raised to support like programs in all of the tour stop cities.

Back to beer, there will be plenty of it, and not just Fat Tire. Expect Fat Tire and four regular brews, 1554, Ranger IPA, Rampant Imperial IPA, Shift Pale Lager; the current summer seasonal, Rolle Bolle; AND four brews from the Lips of Faith Series: Pluot, Paardebloem, Cascara Quad, and Heavenly Feijoa Tripel.  There might even be a couple more surprises….

Food. Yes there will be food vendors at the event – Illegal Pete’s, Water Course Foods, Brother’s BBQ, Hanson’s, Stoney’s, Pot Kettle Black, and Dumpling Love.

All with THREE stages for live music, the tunes kick off at 11:00 AM.

Dust off that costume, pump up those bike tires, and get your butt over to City Park this Saturday.  Check out all of the details, including the line up of live music and the actual bike parade route, at the Tour de Fat web page.

About Justin Lloyd

Justin believes that Beer, Tacos, and Cookies are the perfect foods, as long as one of them is spicy. He prefers interesting to boring, and has no patience for people that are simply taking up space and wasting air. Most of the time you can find him at the bar he owns and operates, making cocktails and friends. You should go meet him.
