A Night To Remember – A festival to celebrate those lost

This Saturday, get on your bike / RTD / Uber / friend’s back and head out to Copper Kettle Brewing Company (1338 S Valentia St Unit 100, Denver) for A Night To Remember.

Last year, Copper Kettle lost one of their brew club members, Alex Teves, in the Aurora Theater shooting. Alex was a vibrant and vocal member of the community, and his loss was felt deeply and immediately.

A few weeks after the tragedy, Copper Kettle opened their doors to friends, family, and the rest of the community. Every dollar spent on beer that night was donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Food trucks gave some of their proceeds. People dropped off checks. An impromptu silent auction raised more money. And the Michael J. Fox Foundation matched the donation. When it was all said and done, the night raised over $17,000.

This year, Copper Kettle aims to celebrate the friends we all lost last year. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the ACT Foundation started in Alex’s name, providing funds and opportunities to students with unique needs and Phoenix999, an organization founded by survivors of the Columbine High School Massacre in the wake of Aurora, provides financial assistance and educational resources to victims of and victims’ families affected by mass tragedy and violence.

From the event’s facebook page:

We all remember what we were doing when we heard about the fatal shooting of 12 people and injuring of 53 people on July 20th, 2012 in Aurora. Some were wives, husbands, sons & daughters. What we didn’t realize was that we had lost a friend that night.

Join us on Saturday, July 20th, 2013 from 4-8 PM for our second annual “A Night to Remember”, as we raise a pint to honor Alexander C. Teves, age 24, brew club member #28, who was one of the victims that night.

Twelve breweries, two bands, a handful of food trucks, and a lot of good people gather this weekend at the brewery. Breweries include:

  • Caution Brewing
  • City Star Brewing
  • Copper Kettle Brewing Company
  • Crooked Stave Artisan Project
  • Elk Mountain Brewing
  • Great Divide Brewing
  • Grimm Brothers Brewery
  • Hogshead Brewery
  • Prost Brewing
  • Renegade Brewing
  • River North Brewing
  • Wit’s End

The event runs from 4-8pm on Saturday, July 20. Tickets are $40, include unlimited tastes, and can be purchased at http://www.imbibedenver.com/ANightToRemember.
