Epic Brewing, based out of Utah, is setting up shop here in Denver slightly off Larimer’s beaten path at 3001 Walnut street. Their 20 barrel, twin kettle system has been delivered (from Oregon!) and they invited us press folks out to take a look at the place before the dust settled.
If you frequent the RiNo area, you may recognize Epic’s new location as where a foreign body shop used to pile a stash of wrecked Mercedes and BMWs. The cars are gone and the grains and fermenters have moved in. You might know Epic from their regional distribution of larger volume and higher ABV beers, barrel aged selections, and other alcoholic experiments.
For now, nothing much is going on. Lots of hammers are swinging, pipe being laid, and other construction metaphors were happening. In a word, the space is enormous – their cooling area stands to be about as big as the entirety of most breweries – and really welcomes the word “epic.”
The crew plans on completing construction to a point where they can start brewing by early June. While the fermenters are…erm…fermenting they will then start working on the tap room where they will feature their beer on 25 taps.
