Something Old, Something New: Rocking Colorado Craft Beer Week Parties

Colorado Craft Beer Week is almost here, and the events are pouring in. Between a Colorado beer tap takeover at Falling Rock and Hops & Handrails at Left Hand, this week celebrates Colorado beer like none other. Jonathan Shikes over at the Westword wrote about the history of this week and some changes this year brings.

Here are two events we’re super excited about. Back to back, celebrating the old and the new: Legends & Rarities, and New Kids on the Block.

Legends & Rarities

March 22
Star Bar
$30 – 30 Sample Tickets

This event celebrates the old guard, the behemoths, the forerunners. The Legends.

Guests will revel in the glory of 10 breweries. Each brewery will pour two beers: one legend, one rarity. Something that brought the brewery from infancy through to today, and something that makes the brewery desired by even the most devout of geeks. Representatives from the breweries will be there to tell you stories, answer questions, and touch their glass to yours.

Then, continue to revel in the classics with live rock n’ roll from Mid Life Crisis at 9:30.

Here’s a tentative list of breweries – subject to change:

  • Avery
  • Boulder Beer
  • Breckenridge
  • Great Divide
  • Left Hand
  • New Belgium
  • Odell
  • Oskar Blues
  • Ska
  • Wynkoop

New Kids on the Block

1 (7)

March 23
9pm – close
The Lobby

Since January 1, 2011, 46 breweries have opened in Colorado. Six have opened so far in 2013. That’s absurd. It’s amazing. This state is just so full of beer. Might as well drink it all! And it’s being brought to you.

The party is called New Kids on the Block. It’s an 80s party. Every new brewery was invited. So far, 22 are in. More will soon follow. Tickets are $19.86. That comes with two free beers. And a DJ. And a costume contest. And it’s an 80s party.

So far, the following breweries are in:

  • Big Choice
  • Bootstrap Brewing
  • Black Bottle Brewery
  • Caution Brewing Co
  • City Star
  • Crooked Stave
  • Elevation Beer Co
  • Fate Brewing Company
  • Gravity Brewing
  • High Hops
  • Hogshead Brewery
  • Lone Tree Brewing Co.
  • Our Mutual Friend
  • Pateros Creek Brewing Co
  • Pikes Peak
  • Prost
  • River North Brewing
  • Telluride Brewing
  • TRVE
  • West Flanders Brewing
  • Wits End
  • Echo Brewing
  • Verboten Brewing

There’s a few on the line, and more to come. Excited? Rad.
