On the night of Friday, November 16th, while leaving the Fillmore Auditorium on Colfax, industry friend and Scruffy Murphy’s Irish Pub bartender Jonathan Hammond—known as Jonny to regulars—was mugged and shot while protecting himself and his date from the attackers. Both he and his date survived the ordeal, but Jonny, a veteran of the Iraq War, was hit twice in the leg and will need several surgeries as the round(s) nicked his perineal artery. He will most likely be hospitalized for most of this week.
According to Jon Elliott, owner of Scruffy Murphy’s, his friends and co-workers will be throwing an all-day fundraiser for Jonny today, Wednesday, November 21st. There will be a silent auction hosted by Heineken as well to help defray his medical expenses.
Please come by for a pint, a shot. or spend the afternoon preparing for Thanksgiving. Help Scruffy Murphy’s give back to a great guy, one who is dedicated to our industry and to his country.
