Weekend off the Wagon – October 26-28

Waiting for the Race to Start

Waiting for the Race to Start, by Sean Buchan

Weekend off the Wagon in your inbox, every Friday

With Halloween on a Wednesday this year, will you celebrate this weekend? Next weekend? Wednesday? ALL THREE? There are plenty of parties going on this weekend. We picked a few that sounded a little different than the norm. Game of Thrones party? $1000 Costume Contest? Grace Potter and the Nocturnals? Oh my.

In other news, Rackhouse Pub turns 3 this weekend. They throw down. Seriously. Just go. But watch out for gorillas.

Also, we’re throwing a party with Imbibe Denver. It’s called the Denver [only] Beer Festivus. 20 local breweries. Rocking good time. Tickets and info are available on ImbibeDenver.com. Buy early, prices go up after Halloween.

Know about something that we missed? Have an event coming up? Send it our way: events@denveroffthewagon.com.

See below for a detailed list for weekend events. Check out our full calendar to plan your events well into the future.

7pm – 10pm

Mile High Station, Denver, CO

We have searched far and wide for 80+ of the world’s finest wines and you’ll taste them all during a night of sipping, swilling and socializing. As you’ve likely guessed, this signature tasting party celebrates wines from around the world from countries like Italy and New Zealand and our very own Napa Valley, featuring varietals from such inimitable names as Italy’s Castello Banfi, Napa’s Chateau Montelena, and New Zealand’s Craggy Range. In between tasting you’ll indulge in savory bites of iGourmet’s artisanal premium cheeses and Creminelli’s mouth watering charcuterie to name a few. We even have delicious craft beer from Odell Brewing Company and Vanberg & DeWulf to change things up a bit.

Take advantage of the early-access VIP pass and you’ll taste the event’s best wines sans crowds and lines and be privy to special VIP only bottles. In addition to the valuable wine knowledge learned at the event all attendees will walk away with their very own Bottlenotes stem created by the talented glass makers at Bottega del Vino along with a copy of the book that is the inspiration for this event, Bottlenotes Guide to Wine: Around the World in 80 Sips by our CEO Alyssa Rapp.

Marczyk’s

Marczyk’s on the ‘Fax, at the corner of Colfax and Fairfax, is holding a Neighborhood Fair complete with a canning demo, pumpkin carving contest, jam and jelly competition, and pie competition. First second and third place ribbons for the winners! In addition, there will be tastings of Marczyk’s fall prepared food menu, neighborhood vendors, and cider donuts for sale. “The neighborhoods surrounding the Colfax store are quite different from the 17th Avenue store, even though they are only a few miles away from each other,” explains store manager Suzanne Waldmann. “We have lots of families here, and they have space for veggie gardens. People are getting back to the basics with canning their tomatoes, making jam, and even raising chickens in the city. So here’s their chance to win a blue ribbon!”
