Denver, ready or not, here comes Uber. Everyone’s private driver of style and convenience kicked off their “super stealth” launch this week with their Rider Zero and Boulder resident, David Cohen, Founder and CEO of Techstars. Just as David requested a car from the comfort of his iPhone, you can now do the same.
Let me clarify that for the next couple of weeks, Uber is in test mode with Denver and Boulder. In other words, the folks over at Uber are sampling the Mile High City’s barrels and kegs to see if we live up to the hype. I say they’re in for treat, Wagoners, and so are you.
If you’ve downloaded the Uber app and set up your account, you may soon see a text message like the one below. During Uber’s stealth launch, they’ll be sending users updates when you’re close to one of Denver’s secret Ubers. So, even though there are limited Ubers on the street for the time being, you’ll still have a decent chance of snagging one. *fingers crossed*
What does this mean for us Wagoners?
A fantastic alternative to cabs. Uber will cut out all of the fuss of DD’s and slow cabs and “only having one” for those of us that like to partake in the many libations there are to be had in our great city of Denver. Personally, I’m excited to have a driver I can call my own in the city. I know, I know, Uber is your driver, too. But I have to say, I kinda feel like a king when they drive up, open the door for me, and zip me to my next destination with ease.
Since this is Uber’s “super secret stealth launch,” I won’t drone on about them. However, stay tuned. This won’t be the last time you see Uber mentioned on the pages of Denver Off the Wagon.
