Colorado Breweries Take Home 9 Medals in 2012 US Open Beer Championship
You may be wondering why beer competitions exist outside of the Great American Beer Festival in the US… and I’d otherwise agree with you. However, the US Open Beer Championship is a little different. It is the only beer competition to pit professional breweries and award-winning homebrewers against each other in the same class. Over 1,650 beers were entered into 65 categories. Nine medals sounds like a particularly weak showing by our great beer state, but I wasn’t able to confirm how many Colorado breweries actually entered the competition.
