Fight Fire with Fire Fundraiser at Marczyk Fine Foods

5pm – 7:30pm

Marczyk Fine Foods

On Burger Night, Friday July 13, Marczyk Fine Foods will fire up the grills at both stores and donate net proceeds of all burgers sold to the American Red Cross Disaster Response. Marczyk’s is hoping to sell 400 burgers at each location.

“We’re taking our most popular summer event, Burger Night, and turning it into a party to raise money for the fire victims throughout Colorado,” states owner Pete Marczyk.

Meat manager Brian Glasgow has already secured donated beef from Niman Ranch, based here in Denver, and fish monger and rocker Jeff Prah is using his influence to bring great bands to play for free at both venues.

“We have a family house in Glacier View, which was evacuated for 6 days,” explains Glasgow. “Our house made it but we know so many people who lost their homes. It makes you feel happy and guilty all at once, and certainly makes you want to do something for those people.”

In addition, both Marczyk Fine Wine and Fairfax Wine & Spirits will donate a percentage of Colorado wine, spirits, and beer sales from that day to the Red Cross.

When: Friday, July 13, 5:00pm-7:30pm
Where: Marczyk Fine Foods at 17th and Clarkson, and Marczyk’s on the Fax at Colfax and Fairfax.
What: Burger Night at Marczyk’s is a neighborhood tradition! For 10 summers customers have been loving freshly ground Niman Ranch beef on a soft brioche bun with juicy tomatoes, lettuce, red onions, and condiments, including Marczyk’s famous bacon aioli. It’s also a great way to meet the neighbors.
How much: $6.99.

For more information call either store. 17th: 303 894-9499. Colfax: 303 243-3355.

South Pearl Jam Festival

Old South Pearl Street

What happens when you mix a warm summer afternoon, ice-cold draft beer, and some fun, funky music? You get the South Pearl Street Music Festivals. Inaugurated in 2007, the brainchild of a South Pearl Street merchant, the first Blues & Brews debuted on August 11th on the 1200 block of South Pearl Street.

The street was closed and featured a stage at the northern end of the block and farmers market vendors, craft beer brewers, and some local blues bands rocked into the night. Hoping to attract 1,000 people and not to lose too much money, the event was a huge success with more than 5,000 people on the street and–like any great party–a last minute beer run! The first year’s success encouraged the merchants to add a second event, dubbed BrewGrass.

Entering its sixth year, the music festivals have become a neighborhood tradition and a real shindig. The question remains–is it a music festival with really good beer or a beer festival with really good music?
