Weekend off the Wagon — March 16-18
Weekend off the Wagon in your inbox, every Friday
In case you haven’t heard, St Patrick’s Day is this Saturday. Irish or not, there are celebrations all over the city and into the mountains too, so get out and enjoy it – and of course the gorgeous weather too!
Track 1
Friday: Get a head start on the St Patrick’s Day celebrations and give to charity at Fado Irish Pub’s Annual St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event for kids with cancer.
Saturday: Celebrate St Patty’s Day, Wagon-Star-Bar-style. 8AM start, 10AM is Denver’s 50th St Patrick’s Day Parade in LoDo, then back to Star Bar for food from Fat Daddy’s BBQ food truck and live music with Kentucky Parlor Pickers and Midlife Crisis well into the evening. If you’d rather skip the parade and get some pre-partying exercise, participate in City Park’s Lucky Laces Run (5K)/Walk (10K) at 10AM.
Sunday: If you’re still going by Sunday, props to you; get some good food before you continue your weekend-long exploration of Irish libations.
Track 2
Friday: Fun for everyone! See “North America’s premiere Celtic event,” the Tartan Terrors, bagpipes, drums, dancing, and all at the Lone Tree Arts Center.
Saturday: Head to the mountains! Take your pick: Breck’s month-long Spring Fever starts today; Vail’s 2012 VRD Krueger Family’s Shamrock Shuffle 5K & 10K race; Copper Mountain’s street party of fire pits, green beer, DJ Leprechaun Landry, and green fireworks too.
Sunday: Stay put in the mountains. Check out Crested Butte’s second day of FestEVOL (starts Saturday at 3PM with the Pete Kilpatrick Band followed by the Barenaked Ladies) includes performances by Zack Heckendorf, Guster, and Big Head Todd & The Monsters.
