Copper Kettle Brewing Co. Turns 1 With 4-Day Bash

It’s hard to believe it has already been a year since Copper Kettle Brewing Company first opened their doors in east Denver.  I sat down with owners Jeremy and Kristen just a few short months after they opened to discuss the highs and lows of starting a brewery, but oh how things have changed. CKBC has upgraded the size of their brewery twice since then and their Mexican Chocolate Stout took home a coveted Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Fest in October.  So in a few weeks, Copper Kettle plans on throwing a birthday party to celebrate their first year.  Only this birthday party will last for 4 days and will include tapping 4 new beers (or re-releases of popular past beers), 4 live bands, and 4 food trucks.  Interested?  Here’s the full schedule:

Thursday, April 19th:

  • 3 PM tap release (re-release of our Belgian Golden Strong from 2011, a huge favorite)
  • 5 PM start of the band “Lizzie Huffman,” a folk singer who does acoustics
  • 5 PM Doimoi Dumpling with their famous Asian potstickers

Friday, April 20th:

  • 3 PM tap release (release of our Black Belgian Quad – this was our “mystery beer” from January that we had. We only released one keg of this beer in January on the night of our Mystery Beer Party, so if you didn’t get it that night, you didn’t get it at all, but held back 4 kegs for our one year anniversary – 10% amazing beer!, aged for 9 months)
  • 5 PM Biker Jims with his famous dogs (reindeer, elk, rattlesnake dogs, etc.)
  • 5 PM “Whole Lotta Nada,” cover band will be playing through the night

Saturday, April 21st:

  • 12 PM tap release (release of a new Barleywine, an anniversary barley wine. Jeremy and I always had a tradition of making a barley wine on his birthday, so we are calling it the “Brewer’s Birthday Barleywine”…the release will be two weeks away from his birthday)
  • 5 PM Biscuit Bus out with their awesome biscuit sandwiches (fried chicken biscuits, etc.)
  • 7 PM “Acoustic Mining Co” outside playing live bluegrass music until the late hours
  • We will have a 100 person seating outside under a tent with the band and food truck. We will have kegs outside if people want to order beers outside or bring them from inside to watch the band

Sunday, April 22nd: (technically our one year anniversary)

  • 12 PM opening with a rolling slideshow of photos and stats about our first year open – we will be showing pictures of our construction through our one year, our brew club members, special events, etc. It will be on one of the TVs
  • 5 PM Uber Sausage outside
  • 5 PM Release of the Bourbon Breakfast Stout as a firkin and served traditional style with a hydraulic hand pump. WE ONLY HAVE 10 GALLONS! The stout is an imperial oatmeal breakfast stout made with coffee, chocolate and 1/5 of kentucky aged bourbon over oak wood chips
  • 5 PM “Pete Stein” on acoustics – Bruce Springstein sound to him
