Why we love this brewery: There is always a great variety of beer and a friendly staff. The BBQ here kicks ass and the brewers are usually in attendance in the tap room. We love their tap room regulars. They are a little rough around the edges, but it’s a great departure from your typical downtown dweller. Additionally, this beer was founded in a ski town and at its core, that ski town spirit is what has made Colorado (in its own not-so-humble-opinion) the country’s leader in craft beer.
Why readers should love this brewery: One of the Colorado originals. They are away from downtown and have several ale house locations throughout the state you can enjoy (Grand Junction, Denver, Breck). Production facility (5th and Kalamnth) is a member of the Santa Fe Art District and a great watering hole on 1st Fridays.
Their beers are very approachable and if you are new to this whole craft beer revolution their line-up is not going to overpower you before you get out of the gate.
Eating is cheating but here is what’s close by: Seriously great BBQ in house, as in some of the best BBQ in town. They will also smoke just about anything you drop off for $20ish. Chris is dropping off an entire pig tomorrow.
When and if there are any special releases: Keep an eye out for their new Stranahan’s Barrel Aged ESB that will be available in bombers and on tap all over the place in a couple months.
