The Rollin’ Wagon Tour – Oskar Blues

What happens when you put a bunch of beer and food geeks in an RV and transport them to one of the centers of brewing merriment in the state?

Most of the Denver Off The Wagon crew – sorry to those that have other pressing engagements – are going on a tour of the Oskar Blues universe in Longmont tomorrow.

Hosting and leading the tour will be the Gubna himself, Chris Katechis, and it’s sure to be a fun time.  If you do not know Chris, he’s one of the very best people in the industry.  Passionate about craft beer and Oskar Blues would be a grievous understatement.

We’ll hit Home Made Liquids and Solids, sample some of their killer down home Southern inspired BBQ, direct from the “Midnight Toker.”  That is the name of their on-site apple wood fed smoker.  Combined with some tasty sips from their over the top draft beer line up.  Hopefully they will have some rarities from the brew house in Lyons.

Then we’re off and over to the main production brewery, which happens to be right around the corner.  Seeing a great brewery in action is always a glorious experience, and this will not disappoint.  A beer fresh from the line just about anywhere is one of the best beers you will ever have, and a fresh Dale’s, G’Knight, Old Chub, Mama’s Yella Pils, Old Chub, Ten Fidy, or Gubna will certainly be a treat.  Another highlight will be checking out the barrel room, wherein something incredible lurks.  A collaborative effort between a bar, a distiller, and OB, G’Night aged in a Leopold Brothers Apple Whiskey Barrel.

After the tour, it’s time to put the Tasty Weasel Tap Room to test.  Hoping for some more rarities, Deviant Dale’s, HGH Part Deaux, and their new – soon to be released  – Smoked Porter – Smitty. Think Ten Fidy’s crazy little brother.
