Relax! Don’t Worry. Learn to Homebrew!

If you’re like me, you’ve wanted to learn to homebrew for a long time but just haven’t bit the bullet.  Or perhaps you are a homebrewer considering the leap from extract to all-grain.  Hell, maybe you just like the smell of a brewery and want to watch other people do the hard work while you enjoy the fruits of their labor.  Either way, the American Homebrewers Association (AHA) has something for you.  This Saturday (November 5th) is the AHA’s Learn to Homebrew Day, featuring events across the state with amateur and professional brewers alike.  This event, which began in 1999, embodies the mission of AHA Founder (and President of the Brewers’ Association) Charlie Papazian to bring homebrewing to the masses.

Here is a list of events in Colorado for Learn to Homebrew Day:

Weiz Guys Homebrew Club at Grimm Brothers Brewhouse

Join the Weiz Guys Homebrew club at Grimm Brothers Brewhouse for a day of brewing education and appreciation. We will be starting with an extract beer so all can see that ‘if you can make macaroni and cheese from a box, you can make great beer’. We will also be making a Parti-gyle full mash for 2 beers so those that are looking to take the leap can get involved in the process. If interested drop me a line (Ric Cunningham –  Exact beer styles are not in concrete yet but a Rye PA and Rye porter are in the works for the Parti-gyle mash beers.  Bring a friend and some samples if you have them.

Treehouse Brewers at Crabtree Brewing Co.

Come join us at Greeley’s Crabtree Brewery for Learn To Homebrew day!  We’re going to run at least 3 all grain setups and may even be making mead, so if you’ve ever wanted to learn how great beer can be produced in your very own garage/backyard/kitchen then swing by around 11 am on Saturday November 5th!  Questions?  E-mail me at
