Small Community Of Lyons, Co And Oskar Blues Raise $8,000 At Lee/sobel Family Benefit Concert

LYONS, Colo… The community of Lyons, CO came together to raise funds to help a local family who was hit by an uninsured drunk driver with a benefit concert featuring three bands at Oskar Blues Grill & Brew last week. The small town of 1,700 came out in force to raise $4,000 at the door and Oskar Blues founder Dale Katechis matched it for a total of $8,000 raised on the evening.  “We’ve been part of the social fabric of this small community for 14 years and tonight was an incredible statement of how it can come together and rally for a common cause.” said Dale.

Dan Lee, Tracey Sobel and their two children were returning from a softball tournament in Colorado Springs when a car veered into their lane, crashing head-on into the family vehicle, sending all four members to the hospital. Dan, who supports the family through construction jobs, was the most severely affected, with a shattered pelvis, hip and broken leg. The rest of the family suffered injuries ranging from broken bones to multiple internal perforations.

The benefit concert featured regional favorites Bonnie & the Clydes ( ), Crow Radio ( ) and Interstate Stash Express ( ). The fundraising concert was organized by local community volunteers with all of the musical talent donating their time and resources. Proceeds will help pay for extensive hospital bills and loss of work while both parents recover.

“The town of Lyons amazed me last week!” said Lauren Ling, event organizer. “The outpouring of support for the family was overwhelming and truly showed how strong our community can be.”

Donations may continue to be made to the Lee/Sobel Family Fund, 1st National Bank, PO Box 578, Fort Collins, CO 80521.
