Weekend off the Wagon: August 12 – August 14

Denver Nightscape If I had my weekend my way (with my multiple clones) these are some of the tracks I’d pick:

Track 1:  Beer, beer, and beer

  • Friday:  Denver Beer Co Ribbon Cutting!
  • Saturday:  Blues & Brews Festival!  Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.  Don’t mind me while I strum my air guitar
  • Sunday:  Wake up, check out the Farmers’ Market, and recover

Track 2:

  • Friday: Check out Pretty Lights at the Fillmore or Meet the Brewer
  • Saturday:  Highlands Ranch Scottish Festival!  And then either snagging the USA vs Canada Rugby game or heading to the bike-in movie.
  • Sunday:  Ciclovia!

Track 3:

  • Friday: Lips of Faith Release Party at Falling Rock and trying to sneak in a sip of Funky Cougar at Bull & Bush
  • Saturday:  Heading up to Boulder for the 17th Annual Asian Festival. Or the Winter Park Beer Festival. Or the Craft Lager Festival. Or EdFest.  Or the Durango Mushroom Festival or… ahh! So many festivals!
  • Sunday:  Day 2 of the Scottish Festival!

But that’s me with clones.  Also, it’s a full moon this weekend, so look out for werewolves.

Ciclovia (Bike Denver)
City Park to Stapleton
Sunday 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Viva Streets is a one-day celebration that’s made possible when a major Denver street is returned to the people. On August 14, LiveWell Colorado and BikeDenver will transform 23rd Avenue between City Park and Stapleton into a car-free parkway for all Denverites to enjoy. The streets will be closed to cars and will come alive with walkers, bikers, runners, strollers, hoola-hoopers, dancers, paraders, musicians, healthy food purveyors and anyone wanting to play in the streets for the day. It’s a tribute to the power of our city’s streets–to get people moving, to bring neighbors together, and to strengthen Colorado’s healthy, active culture.
