The best movie of the summer isn’t out yet, but it will be soon. Sure, Super 8 looks pretty good, but wouldn’t a film about Colorado beer culture be better? Enter Beer Culture the Movie. The guys over at Free Mind Productions (Denver, CO) have been working hard on this documentary, which features many of Colorado’s breweries, including: New Belgium, Oskar Blues, Avery, Tommyknocker, Upslope, Odell, Twisted Pine, and more.
Here’s a short statement about the movie from Thomas Kolicko, the film’s executive producer and director:
“Beer Culture the Movie is a feature length documentary about the American Craft Beer Movement and the rebirth of an American Culture that has come out of it. The film takes place in Colorado and features some of the state’s top brewers and tells their stories of struggles and successes in their pursuit of living the modern American Dream. Although the film is centered around the Colorado beer industry, it is a commentary on the American economic situation and how a community can thrive by supporting small business in the time of the great recession.”
On July 8th, Beer Culture the Movie will be released at Upslope Brewing Company in Boulder, CO as the first stop on their national brewery screening tour. I’ll be there, so if you go make sure to say Hi. Their second stop, and last chance to see it for free, will be the following day, July 9th, at Left Hand Brewing Company. I’ll be updating this post with new details as I get them, but make sure you follow them on Twitter, ‘Like’ them on Facebook, and check out their website to stay up-to-date.
