Renegade Brewing Update

Renegade Brewing, one of the new breweries hoping to open this summer in Denver, isn’t quite open yet. But they’re working on it.

About a month ago, they named their new Director of Brewing Operations, Rick Abitbol. Rick was born in Augsburg, Germany, and has worked at Shamrock Brewing in Pueblo, Golden City Brewing in Golden, Denver Chop House and the South Denver Rockbottom Brewery. Renegade’s full announcement can be found at the end of this post.

They just got all their shiny new tanks in, and are hoping to brew their first batch this weekend. A full description of their brews can be found on their site, but they hope to open their doors with Ryeteous, 5 O’Clock, and Una Mas, an IPA, blonde, and Mexican-style amber, respectively.

Here’s the full release on their new brewer:

We are very excited to announce we have hired Rick Abitbol as Renegade’s Director of Brewing Operations. Rick brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to Renegade and we are fortunate to have him join us. Below is a bit more information about Rick and his achievements. Rick can be reached at rick@renegadebrewing.com.

Rick Abitbol has traveled many roads to get to his current place in life. He was born in Augsburg Germany, and has lived in Belgium, and Italy as a child, giving him experience with table beers and wines, and the general European acceptance of alcohol culture. As a home brewer Rick quickly became active in clubs and contests. He continues to be active and support homebrewers in the area, and is well known in the beer circles of the Denver metro area.

He started his professional brewing career at Shamrock Brewing in Pueblo, Colorado and then moved on to Golden City Brewery in Golden, Colorado. While at Golden City Rick transitioned to assistant brewer in training at the Denver Chop House and eventually moved to the South Denver Rock Bottom Brewery where he has been Brewmaster for the last 6+ years. Rick is also an accomplished musician, playing with many Denver bands over the years, starting his musical career in the Army. Rick has also dabbled in the recording industry, and owned a computer rental company for a short time.

Rick is happy to announce his latest appointment as Director of Brewing Operations for the greatest new brewery in Denver – Renegade Brewing Company. He is very excited about this, and sees it as the next step in his career to be able to bring new and innovative individuality to the beer world, putting his talents to work for the customer.
