Friday, May 13th

  • Ska Tap Takeover at Star Bar!  (2137 Larimer)
    Beginning at 7pm, prepare to get rocked by the awesomeness of Ska Brewing and Star Bar in one incredible night.  Check with The Wagon for more details.
  • LoHi Music Festival–Funkin’ Friday: Day 1 (2229 West 32nd Ave, Parking Lot West of Highland Tap & Burger)
    Check out Juno What?!, Bop Skizzum, and the Macpodz for the opening night of LoHi Music Festival, 5-10pm.  Check their website for tickets and more details.
  • For the Love of Raymond Fine Wine Tasting (2044 E. Evans Ave)
    Sample international wine and cuisine, bid in a silent auction, and help out a good cause. Proceeds benefit the Raymond Wentz Foundation, an organization lessens the daily financial struggles of those living with cancer.  The event kicks off at 6:00-8:30pm in the Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management in the Joy Burns Center.  Check here for tickets and more details.
  • Create Denver Launch at The Spire (14th & Champa)
    Annual city-sponsored May event for the Denver creative space, includes major events like the Create Denver Expo.  Launch begins at 7pm-10pm, and Create Denver goes through Sunday, May 15th. Check here for registration and more details.
  • Colorado Rockies vs San Diego Padres (2001 Blake Street)

Saturday, May 14th

  • LoHi Music Festival–Reggae Saturday: Day 2 (2229 West 32nd Ave, Parking Lot West of Highland Tap & Burger)
    Check out SOJA, Thrive, and Cas Haley for the second night of LoHi Music Festival, 5-10pm.  Check their website for tickets and more details.
  • Lala’s Wine Bar (410 E. 7th Ave)
    Come to Lala’s to experience 2 of life’s greatest pleasures…BEER & CHEESE! This Sat. 5/14 from 2:30-530. $20 at the door for 5 pairings!  Check their site for more details.
  • Broken Spirits and A. Tom Collins at Hi-Dive (7 South Broadway)
    Not a booze event per se.  But the band name spells booze for us  It says it all and we love live music, especially when it’s described as punk-jazz-blues. Show starts at 9pm at Hi Dive, entry $6.
  • Huntington’s Disease Poker Tournament (7675 E Union Ave)
    Poker Tournament: Texas Hold’Em at the Hilton Garden Inn in the Tech Center.  $40 Entry and proceeds go Huntington’s Disease research.  Snacks & Cash Bar available, check here for registration and event details.
  • Kitchen Tours at Fruition, ChoLon, and Argyll
    Get your Foodie on with Denver Top Restaurant Tours give you a personalized tour through their menu at a lunch table by the kitchen.  Unfortunately, this weekend’s event is sold out, so be sure to check next weekend’s event listing.
  • Colorado Rockies vs San Diego Padres (2001 Blake Street)

  • A Taste of Spain at Cook Street (1937 Market Street)
    Take a culinary journey around the world and add some global inspiration to your menu.  A meal complete with a glass of wine and dessert is included in each class.   Cooking lasts 6p-9:30p, check here for more details.
  • Music and Wine Kick-Off (347 S. Colorado Blvd)
    CityWine is kicking off its “Music & Wine Tasting” summer series with a special tasting of the venerable Stags Leap Winery wines, along with a great jazz trio.  Visit the events page for more details.

Sunday, May 15th

  • Swallow Hill Winefest 2011 (71 East Yale)
    Join us for wine, music, food and fun at Swallow Hill Music’s third annual Winefest. The event features wines made from Colorado-grown grapes, delicious appetizers, and live music by Leslie Brown. All proceeds benefit our efforts to keep roots and folks music alive in our community  Wineries include Alfred Eames, Augustina’s, Spero, Two Rivers, Versa and Baslisteri.  Event kicks off at 3pm and runs till 5pm.  Be sure to layer (see weather forecast) and check here for more details.

  • Hop Swap at Denver Beer Co. (1695 Platte Street)
    Denver Beer Co., which isn’t quite open yet, is hosting a Hop Swap this weekend. If you’ve got a green thumb and a taste for beer, stop by and pick up your very own organic Cascade hop plant, and a growler of beer! More details.
  • Psychic Fair at Cornerstone Bookstore (3601 S. Sherman St.)
    Ok, not booze, but hey, it’s a psychic fair from 12-4p.  Meet the up and coming new psychic readers in the Denver area. Each student reader is a member of the Denver Psychic Development Groupand is working toward expanding their natural abilities to benefit everyone. See and meet them now before they get discovered and itbecomes hard to book appointments with them. Readings are around 15 mintues each, we are accepting love donations which go entirely to charity- The Friends of Sunset Camp providing assistance to Sunset Spiritualist Church, a Spiritualist organization founded in 1881.  Check here for more details.
