Naples in Denver: Marco’s welcomes renowned pizza chefs from Italy and New York

Next week, Denverites have a rare opportunity to have Neapolitan style pizza and wine with the masters.  Marco’s Coal-Fired Pizzeria will be hosting Meet the Masters Dinner with Italian Chefs Don Antonio Starita & Roberto Caporuscio at both of their locations.  The dinner will begin with demonstrations of dough making & stretching, covering new and historic pizza recipes, and pairing your Neapolitan pizza with wine.

Meet the men whose vast experience has helped spread Neapolitan Pizza around the world as Marco’s Coal-Fired Pizzeria welcomes celebrated Italian Pizza Chefs Don Antonio Starita and Roberto Caporuscio. For two delicious evenings in May guests can savor unique new flavors & witness the craftsmanship behind authentic Neapolitan Pizza at Marco’s Meet the Masters Dinner. Hosted May 16th at Marco’s Vallagio DTC location, then followed May 17th at Marco’s Ballpark Downtown location, both evenings will start with demonstrations of dough making, stretching techniques & traditional recipes. After the demonstration guests will enjoy unique savory & sweet pizza offerings not normally seen in the US, crafted by the masters themselves. A selection of fine Italian wines will also be offered as diners mingle with the chefs. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit Denver’s Global Down Syndrome Foundation.

DON ANTONIO STARITA is the fourth generation owner of one of the oldest pizzerias in Naples, PIZZERIA STARITA est.1901 on Via Materdei. Mr. Starita is an icon in the Neapolitan Pizza industry & widelyknown throughout Italy. During his illustrious career master Starita has enjoyed many accolades such as having his pizza featured in Sophia Loren’s film “Oro di Napoli” and being selected as a special envoy to present pizza to Pope John Paul II.

ROBERTO CAPORUSCIO is owner of KESTE PIZZA + VINO in New York City, which was honored as New York Magazine’s 2009 Top Pizza in New York. After training with the best, he opened two successful pizzerias in Pittsburgh, followed by A Mano in Ridgewood, NJ. Each endeavor brought critical acclaim from the culinary industry. Mr Caporuscio serves as President of APN (Associazione Pizzaiuoli Napoletani) and consults to restaurants around the nation.

MARCO’S COAL-FIRED PIZZERIA is one of only a few certified authentic Neapolitan Pizzerias in the nation, and recipient of numerous city & nationwide accolades from publications including Sunset Magazine,5280 Magazine, Westword & American Way Magazine.
