My grandma used to rub whiskey on my gums when I was teething. She would give me ice cream and we’d watch Wheel Of Fortune when I wasn’t feeling well. It is safe to say that grandma was awesome. Ice cream is the ultimate comfort food, so it only makes perfect sense to add whiskey for an additional level of comfort.
This is exactly what Sweet Action has done. They have taken two of the world’s most amazing things and put them together. Stranahan’s Whiskey Brickle is probably something you should be aware of if you live in Denver, but if you are not, do yourself the favor. The frozen treat consists of a vanilla ice cream base and contains whiskey infused, toffee-like bits o’ heaven. As legend states, this was an experimental flavor that quickly became part of their regular rotation by popular demand. And why not?
Sweet Action is also known for including delicious Colorado beer in their masterpieces during the Great American Beer Festival, some of which make it as a year-round selection. With the amazing flavors of Leopold’s, a local distillery, I am really curious to see if any more of their spirits will make it from the bottle to the cone, as this past Saturday they announced Alpine Herbal Orange Swirl made with Three Pins, which was absolutely amazing. Be sure to check out Sweet Action’s Facebook wall for the ever-changing rainbow of flavor.
So, lover of ice cream, what boozy flavors would you like to see?
